Cow Riding in the Winter – 1/8 plate tintype of a
boy sitting on top of a cow with wickedly curved
horns. A man wearing a stocking cap and winter
boots is holding the cow’s harness while a row of
other men lean against a building in the
background. There is snow on the ground, and
the boy appears to be wearing ice skates on his
feet but perhaps it is just snow. A very unusual
scene. Small spot of missing albumen above boy’s
head and the plate is a little short but fits the mat
just fine. Full case. $325.00
