Identified Odd Fellow in Fraternal Garb – Half
plate daguerreotype of a man wearing a white
shirt with large gold buttons and a tight black
jacket. A large sash with gold trim on one side, a
large rosette on each end, and silver stars and a
silver eagle on it hangs across his chest. A white
apron with white fringe, two silver stars, and
three silver rings is tied around his waist. ID is
scratched into the back of the plate: John Koule,
b. 29April 1815, d. 29 July 1874. Excellent tinting
job and an outstanding job by the photographer
of pin pricking the plate to make the fringe and
stars shine. There are scratches and wipes on the
plate. Full case. $1850.00
