provides an attractive side. “Major Andrew W.
Bowman 9th US Infantry” inscribed on back in
modern hand, back marked Bayley and Johnson.
Andrew Bowman was born on 1/14/1819 in
Pennsylvania and died on 7/17/1869 in Omaha,
Nebraska. He was buried in Franklin, PA. He
enlisted on 6/7/1862 as a Major and was
commissioned into Field and staff US Army 9th
Infantry. He was later promoted to Lt. Colonel on
6/6/1867. He was also a graduate of USMA in 1841.
