11595 Confederate Gettysburg KIA Letter 2 page (front and
back)ALS written by William Lowry Co B., 45th North
Carolina State Troops, Camp near Drury’s Bluff, VA. Sept the
10th, 1862 reads in part: I am well with the exception of a bad
cold...the health of the regiment is improving...most of our boys
has returned from the hospital...there are no Yankees near hear
now Stonewall has cleared them out and I do not think they will
ever get as close to Richmond again...I am in hope that the
Yankees will give it up for they had just as well, for we will fight
them as long as they contend against us. Much more interesting
content. Lowry was Killed in action on July 2nd 1863 at
Gettysburg. Quaro, ink fading and bleeding through but easily
read. Scarce letter with Stonewall Jackson reference by a
soldier who the ultimate price. $225
