12218 Girl With Kitten - 1/9 plate daguerreotype shows a
wide-eyed child . She is wearing an off the shoulder dress
and a wonderful homemade necklace. Her kitten appears
to have tiger stripes on her body and a calico head. There
is a period identification behind the image which may
read Connie Cardy. The image has some minor mat
abrasions and some light tarnish. The kitten is slightly
soft in focus but this appears to be caused by the
photographer’s lens and not movement. Cat images are
hard to obtain. $880
