Samuel James Smith  KIA at Bull Run, this CDV has some green paper on the
back from a prior mounting and only a portion of the back mark is visible.  This
unit was made famous by the letters of Elisha Hunt Rhodes in Ken Burns Civil

Enlisted on 6/6/1861 as a Captain.

On 6/6/1861 he was commissioned into "I" Co. RI 2nd Infantry
He was Killed on 7/21/1861 at Bull Run, VA
