"Headquarters of the Comdg Officer of Detachment of Prisoners,
Cario, Illinois, Sept 7, 1862.
To the Officer Commanding the Steamer Meteor,
You will be particular to hold a position assigned your vessel in line, to
proceed down the river. You will take position on cables length or two
hundred and fifty yards to the rear and astern of the Steamer universe.
The above order will be promptly and strictly adhered to and you will
receive morning reports from the Orderly Sergeants of each and every
Company of Rebels in board your vessel.
Order No. 4
For the better condition and health of the troops on board you are
implicitly commanded to see that your decks are washed each and
every Monday and Thursdays of each and every week.

SIXTY-NINTH INFANTRY
(Three-Months)
Sixty-ninth Infantry. - Col., Joseph H. Tucker; Lieut.-
Col., Thomas J. Pickett; Maj., George P. Smith. This regiment
was organized at Camp Douglas, Chicago, and was mustered into
service June 14, 1862. It remained on duty at Camp Douglas,
guarding the camp and Confederate prisoners until mustered out
at the expiration of its three months' term.
